Nottingham was named Transport City of the Year in October 2012. The city has the largest publicly owned bus network in the UK, and is also served by a large railway station and an expanding tram system. East Midlands Airport is located just over 10 miles to the south-west of the city. With a compact city centre and a well-developed travel infrastructure, it’s easy to see why there has been an enormous rise in students choosing to live in the city rather than the suburbs. Residing in the city means you have fantastic shops on your doorstep, a vast choice of restaurants and a well-developed nightlife (in case you fancy a drink or two!)
